Memory Lane Vol 1

It has been awhile since my last episode, but here is my latest. It is entitled Memory Lane Vol 1, and for 2 reasons. First, it is a tribute to the best online music group I know – “Memory Lane Classic R&B 60’s-80’s Music; Real, Smooth, & Timeless” on Mingle City at http://minglecity.com/group/raresouloldiesmid60s70s  and on FaceBook at https://www.facebook.com/groups/MemoryLaneClassicRnB/ and second because this is the first in a series of podcasts I will be doing highlighting some of The Best Music of Your Life.

The episode time has reduced from 2 hours to 1hour & 20 minutes, so that each episode can be downloaded and easily burned to a single disc.

I hope you’ll enjoy Memory Lane Vol 1.

Truly Yours, Spotlight On The Spinners

In 1954, a group of friends from Ferndale, Michigan came together to make music and called themselves The Domingoes In 1961 they changed their name to The Spinners and charted their first hit in August of 1961 with " That's What Girls Are Made For", which peaked at number 27.

As of 2012, The Spinners have been active for over 50 years, with a long run of pop and R&B hits especially during the 1970s, and they still tour regularly.

Occasionally the names Detroit Spinners, or Motown Spinners (for their 1960s recordings with the Detroit label)  were used in the UK to avoid confusion with a British folk group also called The Spinners.

Truly Yours, Spotlight On The Spinners” contains of some of my personal favorites by The Spinners, and after listening I’m sure they’ll be some of yours also. N-Joi!

Truly Yours,

Motown Memories

The Motown Sound! Forever a great part of American Music History and always a part of my life. I have vivid memories of dancing and singing to the sounds of Motown artists from a young boy to the present.
Attending “The Motown Revue” at The Regal Theater in Chicago were some of the best times of my life. The artists were polished and smooth, and their bands were some of the best. Whether it was a solo artist, a duet or a group, their voices were clear and mellow, their harmonies tight and the showmanship and stage presence was unbeatable. The competition between the artists was a healthy competition and it guaranteed their audiences one top-notch performance on stage.
Motown Memories Vol 1 is my first in a series of podcasts I will be doing featuring some of Motown’s Greatest Hits. I hope you will enjoy this great music today as much as I, and many millions of people did yester-year.
If you have a special Motown song, you would like to have included in one of these podcasts, leave me a comment and I will try to get it in for you.

Thanks again for your continued support, and now, turn on the music and N-Joi!
